One lesson: if you do something meaningful to you in your life, it probably means something to someone else, too. Not many people passes away leaving a legacy, I'm sure.

#29 Festive Fun and All That

WEEEEELLLLLLLL.......we had Evolution of Dance, the Candy Grams, and I helped with making snowflakes for Rachael and Mekia's project. I wasn't at school on the day IDCIdol was on, but from what I've seen on Facebook I hear Idols was a success. We all had quite a lot of fun while creating the film, so I think the main goal was achieved. We were occupied and happy. It ended well.
I helped organizing the candy gram project, gathered the hat-bags, made the announcement, sold the candy grams, helped tie the ribbons, and then distribute them. Many people expressed their gratitude towards their friends and some teachers and the recipients were excited to get their messages. It was too bad that the grade nines didn't participate. Next year, maybe we should maybe focus on having them participate in the events more actively.

#28 Oprah's Story

I can only begin to imagine how electrifying it would be to be the one to bloom smiles on the faces of fifty thousand children. I think Oprah was very blessed to have had that visitation from the nuns because it was what initiated her project to help the children in South Africa. I believe that her success was thanks to her understanding of the feeling of being cared for and thought of as a child. Because she understood, she could be more considerate and sincere in her approach to the children. Her childhood experience was probably just as important as her big heart. Her idea is admirable and not something many would attempt to do in our life time. Reading this story gave me goose bumps.

#27 Car Experiment

IDCI should care for one another even if most people are strangers because we are a community. Maybe we could have the same kind of atmosphere as Palto Alto if everyone just said "hi"s and "good morning"s in the hall ways? It's a pretty good idea, I would think. The students in our school are nice, though. They are kind enough to open doors for the other people when they are getting through, help someone pick up something that they've dropped and such. We don't all have to be financially stable to be considerate. What IDCI needs is a connection amongst the students, and those outside our usual friendship circles.

Also, we should not vandalize other people's property. New Yorkers weren't very nice in bashing up and stealing from the car. I'm sure no one wants their possessions vandalized by strangers while they accidentally forget about them.

#26 What IDCI Can Learn from Monarch Park Collegiate in Toronto

I didn't realize that penny drive was such an impactful event, despite my three years of involvement in Me to We! If a school less fortunate than us could contribute so much for a cause like Me to We, IDCI could do much more help than them. We should learn from them their effort that what is happening half way across the Earth can be reached if we all put our minds around it. In conclusion, I guess all huge things come in little pieces first.

#25 Belonging

My friends are a group to which that I feel closely connected. It always lifts my mood to chat my stress away, which is vital for me to keep my relationship with my mom smoothly. I need social interaction to relieve some of the stress that naturally accumulates. From them, I can hear the latest gossip, what happened in John's life, what's going on in grade 12 physics class, all the way to what's happening to Mackayla in Haiti. They inform me of things that I never would have paid any heed to otherwise, and it makes me a much nicer person. I think they would play out to be my emotional outlet. I'm not very happy when I'm grumpy.

#24 Lions and Zebras

We can apply the lessons of the zebras in IDCI by sticking with people that are singled out. That way, they won't be singled out and the 'lions' won't prey on them anymore. If each little friendship circles in IDCI stood up for one person outside their groupies, we would be able to keep everyone happy without letting a single person become a victim to the predators.

By the way, is it not a contradictory that Me to We insists that we be individuals while telling us to blend in? Just a thought.
